Team has been working hard to bring
improvements and innovations to you. Here's the
latest:
SUPER SENSOR
The development of the perfect sensor to support the Battlefield LIVE game
concept has been one of Battlefield Sports' major research and development
projects in the last year. See right, a photo of our
brand new super sensor.
The new sensor has remarkably even performance between shade and bright
sunlight performance.
The difference between these two extremes in
performance is only 11%. Likewise the new dome
design has increase gaming gun range by more than 30%.
The other vital feature is the sensor never becomes too sensitive even
in night conditions. If a sensor is too sensitive the game become too
difficult for commercial use for the following reasons:

A too sensitive a sensor means infra-red bounce becomes a problem where
people start hitting their own team or rebounding hits off leaves and
other cover.

A careful balance from extensive field testing with large
groups of beginners was required to get this balance just right.

If the range of the standard gaming gun become too long, the game becomes
frustrating for beginners. One must remember that well over 95% of the
revenue from a successful battlefield is from groups of new players
looking for entertainment and therefore their enjoyment is of paramount
importance.
The Battlefield Sports™
gaming gun and sensor combination has been rigorously tested to obtain the optimum range for enjoyment of
the vast majority of players.
Our
team has designed a surface mount PCB which has enabled us to keep
a compact size of the sensor. Our sensors are approximately the size of a silver dollar. These sensors simply
attached with Velcro to any hat or cap or headband as shown above. This is particularly useful if
you are using a particular style of costume as part of your attraction's theming.
Our production super sensor (see above) is encased in
a hard-wearing polycarbonate
dome.
Without doubt, from an electronics design point of view, the new
super
sensor is the most advanced component ever developed
in the Battlefield LIVE industry. The super sensors are now in full production,

REFEREE GUN
Battlefield Sports™ philosophy is to keep things as simple and easy as
possible both for the field operators and players. With this in mind,
the new referee gun has been developed to provide the fastest and
easiest way to do rapid re-spawns by your staff.
The current software
remembers the last configuration set by the referee in terms of hit
points, fire mode and sound scheme between reboots.
The referee gun
works to 3 metres range and re-starts the gun back to the last
configuration. When the gun re-starts, a 10 second count down commences
where the gun won't shoot but the player can't be hit and therefore
giving a players fair chance to re-enter the battle.
WATER RESISTANCE
All Battlefield sports gaming guns have a special extra coating on the
circuitry. This coating has
proven truly amazing advancement in water resistance for electronic
boards. While we still do not recommend play during a heavy storm,
problems associated with high humidly building up in the case is
radically reduced.
NEW SOFTWARE
Our new software system is
now available. This
new software
gives you 3 modes. So on boot up you can
choose either:
-
"Arcade" mode –
lots of hit points and lots of ammo, plus you can
only be shot once every 3 seconds; or
"Modern military"
mode – great for scenario games – you get 2 hit points on
boot up and limited ammo, plus you can be shot
every second;
or
-
"Bolt Action" mode – great for re-enactments
for the early 20th Century – slower rate of fire.
Plus the computer
inside the gun remembers the setting you had last time and automatically
sets it back to this next time you turn it on. This makes re-spawns
very quick. One of
Battlefield Sports™ ' great strengths as a provider of Battlefield LIVE
gear is that it is always looking to the next advance
in technology and then using this advance in your battlefield business.
For
example, all of our gun designs, come with a "screen saver" or power save feature that
automatically extends battery life and doesn't give away a player's
position at night.
